SlideTimerApp

A PowerPoint Timer for Mac is on the way.

Quick answer: SlideTimerApp is currently a Windows app. A native macOS version — a transparent countdown that floats on top of PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides — is in development. Join the waitlist below and we'll email you the day it ships. Right now, Mac users can still add a timer by embedding a countdown on a slide (steps below).

What the Mac version will do

Exactly what the Windows app does — just native to macOS. Because SlideTimerApp is a separate overlay window (not a slide object or an add-in), the Mac build will sit on top of whatever you're presenting:

01

Float over Keynote

A transparent countdown on top of Keynote's full-screen play mode.

02

PowerPoint for Mac

Works over Slide Show in PowerPoint for macOS, the same as on Windows.

03

Google Slides & more

Overlay it on Google Slides, Canva or a PDF in any browser.

04

Red warning + alarm

Digits turn red as time runs low and an alarm sounds at zero.

What Mac users can do today

While the native app is being built, you have two working options on macOS:

  1. Embed a countdown on a slide. In PowerPoint or Keynote, use Insert › Video to drop a countdown clip on the slide and set it to play automatically. It's fixed to one slide and can't be paused, but it works today. See the full how-to guide.
  2. Run the Windows app in a virtual machine. If you use Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion, you can run the current Windows version of SlideTimerApp inside your Mac.
Why isn't it ready yet? We're building the Mac version natively so it stays small, fast and reliably always-on-top — rather than shipping a heavy cross-platform wrapper. That takes a little longer, but the result is a better tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a PowerPoint timer for Mac?

SlideTimerApp is currently a Windows app, and a native macOS version is in development. It will float a transparent countdown over PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides on a Mac, the same way the Windows app does. Join the waitlist to be notified when it ships.

Does SlideTimerApp work on macOS?

Not yet. The current build runs on Windows 10 and 11. A macOS version is being built; in the meantime Mac users can add a timer by embedding a countdown video on a slide, or run the Windows app through a virtual machine such as Parallels.

Will the Mac version work with Keynote?

Yes. Because it's an overlay window rather than a slide object, the Mac version will float on top of Keynote, PowerPoint for Mac and Google Slides in the browser.

How can I add a timer to PowerPoint on a Mac right now?

Until the Mac app is ready, insert a countdown video or GIF onto a slide using Insert then Video, set it to play automatically, and present. It's fixed to one slide and can't be paused, but it works on macOS today.

When will the Mac version be released?

There's no fixed date yet. The fastest way to find out is to join the waitlist on this page; everyone on it gets an email the day the macOS version is available.
